My not particularly positive feelings about Mentor made me snap and I entered Vintage Challenge on the last minute with Ravager Shops instead of a blue deck. I was suddenly in a totally different world trying to find ways how to win and not utterly die. In an incomprehensible way I ended up in the top 8.

Vintage is not just about blue spells. There are also proactive strategies that exist in Vintage and they are very important in keeping the metagame balanced. Today I will introduce the most common decks built around the card Mishra's Workshop, which gave them their name 'Shops'.
Winning a tournament depends on many factors. Configuration of our decks I talked about plays a major role, but that alone won't ensure you become the winner of the event. I will talk about the most common things that always come up at events. These are often things that undermine all the player's effort to prepare for the event.
Our decks consist of two parts - main deck and the sideboard. I talked primarily about main deck in my deckbuilding article while talking briefly about the sideboard. Now I'd like to talk about the sideboard in more detail.
Deckbuilding is part of any trading card game. It is a long process and some players are not really good at it. If you are not a good deck builder you should build some decks. Deckbuilding will help you learn a lot about the game itself, the metagame and cards. It will allow you to see things from different angles and will make you a better player.

Since Onslaught I fell in love with Zombies. I wanted to build a Zombie Tribal deck but the decked lacked a general I would actually like. The new set though brought Gisa and Geralf and that is a card I liked from the moment it was spoiled and that is how Gisa and Geralf EDH came to be. If interested you can read about it at PureMTGO!

Do you like comes into play effects on your cards? I absolutely love them! They just only have one sad fact in a form that it comes as a one time benefit. I wonder what would happen, if there could be done anything about that little flaw. Introducing Roon of the Hidden Realm.

Here is a funny analogy my friend came up with: Lands? Lands are like friends: if they don't show up, you get sad. If there are plenty, you get annoyed, but if your opponent starts to mess with them, you get outrageous!
It is said that a change of something from time to time is a good thing. I am an eternal format player and Standard does not appeal to me. But playing a bit of Standard from time to time is something I can actually enjoy. But in order to play Standard I really need a sound reason. WMCQ was that reason. Since I really enjoyed the tournament (and went 5-3) I wrote a report.
